On his recent trip to Japan, the Duke of Cambridge officially launched the British Government’s year-long Innovation is GREAT campaign, designed to foster UK-Japan relations and collaboration in the areas of research and technology.
February 27th, 2015 saw the official launch of the British Government’s Innovation is GREAT campaign in Tokyo. The year-long campaign is set to promote closer ties between Great Britain and Japan, especially in the fields of research and technlogy.
Speakers at the event included Andrew Hamilton, Vice Chancellor of the Oxford University, Andy Palmer, CEO of Aston Martin, Sir Martin Sweeting, Group Executive Chaiman of Surrey Satellite Technlogy, and James Roberts, Creator and Director of MOM Incubators Ltd, who presented their products and thoughts about what makes the UK such a wonderful innovation hub.[memb_has_membership memberships=REGISTERED-MEMBER]
“Collaboration between the UK and Japan is a strong force for good and for economic vitality. Innovation is what drives the economic engine,” said Andrew Hamilton.
Andy Palmer believes that, “Japan and the UK have so many things in common, not least the fact that both countries are extraordinarily innovative – bring those two powers together and you have an intoxicating formula.”
Joel Gibbard, Founder of Open Bionics, Ltd. and Neil Stephen, Commercial Manager Export of Blatchford Products, Ltd. attended the event to showcase their products and their latest innovations in prosthetic limb technology.
James Roberts presented his inflatable incubator, a design that won him the 2014 James Dyson Award. His design started out as a university assignment, but quickly turned into something much bigger.
British innovation and research and development across all sectors in the field of technology has never been greater, and it seems the only trajectory will be upward as these innovators continue to impress.[else_memb_has_membership] [/memb_has_membership]
