Themis Analytics Wins Business Development Trip

Brian Hutchison (pictured right) of Themis Analytics was the lucky winner of return Business Class flights to Japan from our recent UKTI Japan customer survey competition. We caught up with him to find out a little more about the company’s plans in the Japanese market and what in-roads they have made so far.

Based in Wiltshire in the UK, but with offices also in the US and Europe, Themis Analytics is a long-term partner to many of the world’s largest pharmaceutical corporations, with over 20 years’ experience providing high-quality sales and marketing business analytics solutions to clients across 70 countries. Themis combines a well proven data architecture and a variety of web based delivery tools with a passion for excellent customer service, all delivered by a professional global team of experts. Their business is heavily export driven and the company is a past winner of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade.

For several years now, Themis has been looking to expand its operations beyond the US and Europe. Japan was identified as the most promising market for their services due to the size and strength of the pharmaceutical companies there and their increasing moves to globalise their business. Themis participated in the UK Bio Pharma trade mission to Tokyo and Osaka in 2009 which confirmed their opinion of the opportunities there, but the company felt it was not, at that point, ready to succeed in entering the Japan market.

Now, a few years later, they have strengthened and improved their organisation and offerings and feel the time is right to focus on Japan again. They have identified a local business partner to help them in that and are currently drawing up plans for their approach, which they expect to start implementing from May of this year. Brian, who has more than 12 years previous experience working in Japan, realises it will be a challenging and possibly somewhat time consuming experience, but the company are prepared for that and believe the potential rewards for their business make it more than worth the effort.

Brian is excited to have the chance to work in Japan again, and we are looking forward to working with him over the coming months in preparation for his visit to the market.
