Advanced Engineering

Japan is one of the world’s leading high-tech advanced engineering and manufacturing centres, with a global reputation for high-quality production and innovation.

Large Japanese multinational conglomerates are world players in aerospace, chemicals and industrial sectors, amongst others.

In car production, Japanese manufacturers account for around 30% of global market share. Although selling to the large domestic market is important, Japanese manufacturing currently makes up around 90% of exports from Japan.

Major opportunities exist for UK companies in the advanced engineering sector with the UK’s strong credentials in innovative low-carbon technology.

We have recently seen a lot of interest in the Japanese market from UK companies due to the price competitiveness of UK-manufactured products.

At the moment, we are seeing specific opportunities in aerospace, automotive technologies, maritime and tooling.
