British Food Finds Loyal Fans in Japan
No less than twelve Japanese distributors of British food and drink products exhibited their range of merchandise at MaruCube in Marunouchi Building near Tokyo station.
Wired Café, in collaboration with Marunouchi Café served up the very best of British food during that time, including ever-popular bangers and mash and Stilton cheeseburgers.
British treats featured included a selection of Lola’s cupcakes, Caws Cenarth cheese from Wales, Clipper Teas, shortbread from Shortbread House of Edinburgh, Avlaki Olive Oil, Cotswold Honey and scones from Demerara Bakery among others.
Attending a Trade Mission or Exhibition Could Be the Key to Doing Business in Japan
Avlaki Olive Oil attended Foodex in March 2016, where they made their initial contact with their current Japanese distributor. The distributors were so impressed with the quality of the olive oil and the passion and professionalism of the producers that they scheduled a visit to the site soon after and signed an agreement. June 22 was the launch date of Avlaki Olive Oil in Japan, happily coinciding with opening day of the GREAT British Food Market.
Demerara Bakery is Japanese-owned, and offers a variety of scones based on traditional British recipes in the newly opened NEWoMan shopping complex situated adjacent to Shinjuku station’s newest bus terminal.
The event was a joint event between the British Embassy and Mitsubishi Jisho Property Management for the Food is GREAT campaign. MINI Japan supported the event and provided their latest models for display.
Members of the public were able to test and purchase their favourite food and beverages from the stalls, and take a close look at their potential future cars.
British entertainment was on hand in the shape of Shaun the Sheep and Wallace and Gromit.
