An opportunity to seek partnerships with Japanese blue chips
The pandemic has not only revealed Japan’s digital vulnerability but also lead to acceleration of plans for digital transformation. (eg. cashless transaction, remote working) over the past two years. Japan’s national vision ‘Society 5.0’ aims to realise data-driven, human-centric society underpinned by emerging technologies including AI, IoT and Fintech. Tokyo and Osaka are looking to position themselves as regional financial hubs, with a strong focus on fintech. Also, there is a growing need for digital technologies to transform the current, retail banking-dominant financial market, as well as legacy IT infrastructure within Japanese financial institutions. This presents significant opportunity for the UK fintech companies.
In light of these policies and business trends, the Department for International Trade (DIT) Japan will host, in partnership with JFSA (Japanese Financial Services Agency), our first online Fintech meetup (a pitch session, followed by breakout room discussions) for selected UK fintech companies. This event will provide UK fintech companies with an opportunity to pitch their technologies & solutions and seek for opportunities to collaborate with Japanese blue chips such as megabanks, regional banks, insurance companies, IT companies, trading houses or any other companies who are keen to adopt fintech. We aim at attracting 50-60 Japanese companies to attend. This will also help us raise the profile of UK fintech among Japanese businesses.
